Project Angel Heart raises over $300,000 to fight life-threatening illnesses

DENVER (April 28, 2014) – Project Angel Heart, a non-profit organization that delivers nutritious meals to improve quality of life, at no cost, for those coping with life-threatening illnesses in the Denver Metro and Colorado Springs areas, is pleased to announce the success of the 20th year of their signature event, Dining Out For Life®.

More than 250 restaurants in the Denver metro area and Boulder donated 25 percent of their food sales on April 24 to Project Angel Heart, which raised over $300,000. An estimated 80,000+ Coloradans attended the event and many, thanks to the beautiful weather, were able to enjoy their meals on the patios of participating restaurants.

“For 20 years, the restaurant community has been coming together to support Project Angel Heart’s home-delivered meals,” said Project Angel Heart CEO Erin Pulling. “On behalf of the 2,300 clients who will receive Project Angel Heart’s nutritious meals this year, Project Angel Heart thanks the community—restaurants, sponsors and diners—for their generous support.”

Volunteer Ambassadors representing Project Angel Heart were stationed at many restaurants to inform diners about Dining Out For Life and to thank them for their participation and individual donations. Volunteers were joined by Mrs. Colorado 2014 Nicki Myers who generously served as an Ambassador at Second Home Kitchen + Bar in Cherry Creek.

This year, as a thank you for dining out, guests had the option to be entered into a drawing to win a year’s worth of groceries from Whole Foods Market – a package valued at $2,500. The winner will be notified by July 1, 2014.  There is still time to enter by texting the word “meals” to 50155 and making a donation of any amount.

Dining Out For Life is an internationally licensed event hosted in 60 cities across the United States and Canada. More than 250,000 people across North America helped raised nearly $4 million to combat the struggle against HIV/AIDS. Project Angel Heart’s 20th year of participation is the largest of its kind, boasting the most participating restaurants and funds raised than any other city. In 2013, Denver-area residents helped Project Angel Heart raise more than $320,000 by dining out.

Project Angel Heart would also like to thank The Cherry Cricket and Racines for supporting Dining Out For Life for all 20 years. It would also like to thank its sponsors for helping to make it another successful event including Subaru of America, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Bellco, Republic National Distributing Company, Deep Eddy Vodka, Whole Foods, 5280 Magazine, The Denver Post, DreamWise Marketing Solutions, Out Front Colorado, Lamar, Sprint, Ad Focus, Westword.
